This book was just recently published in 2009, and was, obviously, based on a true story. It is crazy to think that this story is already made into a book, because it seems like just yesterday that we saw the entire thing unfold. I think this book is well written and the illustrations are wonderful portrayals of the actual people and of Bo and the other dogs.
Pets are a huge favorite of elementary students, so I think that many of them would love to read this story. They may learn a thing or two about getting their parents to agree to a pet. I think if any child does as much work and is as giving of their time as those two girls, then they would earn the rights to a pet as well.
